Rob graduated in 2000, and has since spent most of this time valuing commercial and residential property throughout Hawke’s Bay. Rob established Added Valuation in 2010, and is Managing Director.

John has over thirty years valuation experience, and brings to Added Valuation a wealth of knowledge which he is always willing to impart to clients and colleagues alike.

John’s clients appreciate the lengths he undertakes to understand their business and requirements and his intrinsic understanding of property market forces.

John specialises in the following fields:

Whilst most of John’s work is within Hawke’s Bay, there are clients elsewhere in New Zealand that John assists with property solutions including an independent third party expert review service. John is also an appointed investigator involved with professional complaints received by New Zealand Institute of Valuers.

John’s outstanding service to the industry has been recognised by his peers, who have honoured him with a Fellowship award of New Zealand Institute of Valuer’ and New Zealand Property Institute in 2005.

John has strong community interests including Taradale Rotary where he has served as President and also Napier Golf where he is an active competitor.

Lihong Sun

Lihong Joined Added Valuation in 2018, and became a Registered Valuer in May 2021. In addition to her role with Added Valuation, Lihong is continuing to enhance her knowledge and skills, and is currently undertaking a Masters of Property at Auckland University.

Lihong is a Lincoln University valuation graduate, who specialises in commercial and industrial property, mostly undertaking market valuations, rental assessments and insurance valuations. She is focused on ensuring all our market data has been thoroughly researched to ensure every valuation is well founded on the best available and most relevant market evidence. Lihong also undertakes a diverse range of residential valuations, including standard homes, high value properties and lifestyle properties.

Lihong decided to switch to valuation in 2017, after initially beginning her professional career in architecture. Lihong undertook a Bachelor of Architecture, and then worked for the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University (2012 – 2016), while simultaneously undertaking a MBA from Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture.

Barry Richardson

In 2020 Barry immigrated to Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, and joined Added Valuation, after a successful 24 year career in South Africa.  Barry undertakes commercial, industrial and residential valuations for Added Valuation, and specialises in motel and hotel valuations.

In South Africa, Barry was the owner and managing director of Onyx Valuation Services near Johannesburg from 2007 to 2019.  Onyx Valuation Services undertook valuations across all urban valuation services; with Barry focusing on:

  • Commercial and industrial valuations
  • Valuation of property developments in the residential, retail, commercial, and industrial sectors
  • Insurance valuations
  • Overseeing residential and lifestyle valuations

Between 1995 and 2007, Barry was involved in the a the provision of a broad range of valuation services, and commercial and residential development project management.

Barry was accepted as a member of the South African Institute of Valuers in 2006, and served on the Executive Board of the Northern Branch on the South African Institute of Valuers in 2007 to 2008 and again in 2018.

Mike Mathurin

Mike joined Added Valuation in February 2021, after completing his Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) majoring in Property at Massey University and wanting to start a career in valuation.

Mike takes primary responsibility for delivery of most residential valuations within the Napier and Hastings localities. Mike typically undertakes market valuations for mortgage lending, sale and purchase purposes, and also frequently undertakes ‘as is’ and ‘as if complete’ valuations for clients building new dwellings or undertaking renovation works. He is also able to assist you with your insurance valuation requirements.

Mike originates from Saint Lucia, in the Caribbean. He moved to New Zealand to further his studies after graduating with an Associate Degree in Architectural Technology (AAT) from his local College (Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, Saint Lucia). After completing his associates degree, he then worked an internship at the Inland Revenue Department of the Government of Saint Lucia (Property Tax Division).

Terry Rawcliffe


After over 40 years working as a property valuer in Hawke’s Bay, Terry Rawcliffe decided to hang up his boots in March 2016. These days Terry is more commonly spotted frequenting many of the regions cafes or working in his garden.
We sincerely thank Terry for his contribution to the valuation profession and Added Valuation.
Added Valuation keep a complete record of all Terry’s valuation and file notes, so are well placed to assist you with any property he has previously valued. We also maintain regular contact with Terry, who is always happy to help out with any questions we might have.
