Added Valuation are pleased to congratulate Lihong Sun on attaining her valuation registration on 5 May 2021.
Lihong joined Added Valuation in early 2018, and quickly showed her abilities as a smart, fast learner. Over her first three years learning on the job, Lihong became proficient and knowledgeable and earned the respect of her colleagues, who often seek her opinion of their own valuation tasks as a sounding board.
To attain valuer registration in New Zealand, one not only needs to have the necessary university qualification, and no less than three years practical experience, but has to demonstrate his/her valuation knowledge by submitting twenty of their valuation reports and an interview examination with Valuers Registration Board. Additionally, the candidate needs the endorsements of two Registered Valuers are required.
“I take very seriously the responsibility of endorsing a valuer for registration and will only do so if I feel absolutely confident that they are up to the standard required, and this is a high bar” said Rob Douglas, who endorsed Lihong for registration.
Lihong is primarily involved in commercial valuation work, and it was on this topic that the Registration Board quizzed her most thoroughly. “I was very proud of Lihong, she displayed her detailed knowledge of the market, industry, methodology and regulatory environment, competently answering the most challenging questions posed to her” said Rob who attended the interview as her mentor. Lihong was granted registration on her first attempt. Well done!
Lihong works at Added Valuation full time, while in her spare time, continues her studies, currently working towards a Masters in Property at University of Auckland.
